We live in an era in which the activities of corporate executives and boards of directors are front-page news. One question repeatedly arises in discussions of corporate governance: “Who is watching out for the shareholders?”

The answer to that question at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is simple — a 50-member Board of Governors that takes very seriously its fiduciary responsibilities and its resolve to honor the wishes of each and every donor.

The Board of Governors feels so strongly about its legal and moral responsibilities that it has adopted and honors a 10-point "Donor Bill of Rights." (I would be pleased to share this document with you — simply drop me a note in care of Glennon Magazine and I will send a copy to you.) In addition, we go beyond the law and issue a receipt for every gift, usually within 24 hours.

As you read this issue of Glennon Magazine you will learn about our expansion plans and some of the programs and services offered by our hospital. You can rest assured that your philanthropic gifts — and the gifts of your friends — are being spent in the most wise and prudent manner.

Thank you again for caring about the children of Glennon, and best wishes
for the coming holiday season. We promise that we will continue to be worthy
of your support.

Sincerely,

Peter F. Benoist

Chairman, Finance and Investment Committee,
Board of Governors
