World renowned polo player Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras to compete at Glennon Gallop

ST. LOUIS (August 13, 2014) – The Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation announced today that Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras will compete at this year’s Glennon Gallop to be held Saturday, September 13 at Kräftig Polo Club in Defiance, Mo. This white hot event, presented by Fifth Third Bank, brings another year of partnership with the St. Louis Polo Club to support the Danis Pediatric Center at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.

Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras is one of the world’s most well-known faces. He is ranked as one of the top 100 polo players in the world, playing professionally in his native Argentina, as well as on the Black Watch Polo Team in the United States. With a great passion for the sport of Polo, Nacho has helped to organize and participate in matches all over the world including the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic in Governor’s Island, New York and the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles.

When not competitively playing polo, Nacho enjoys a successful career as a brand ambassador and model. He became the face of Ralph Lauren Black Label in 2005, and in May 2009 was made the face of the World of Polo fragrances, including Polo Black, Polo Blue and Polo Modern Reserve.

“I look forward to coming to St. Louis and meeting the many supporters of Cardinal Glennon who will join me at this wildly popular match,” said Figueras. “It is a true honor to be able to play in the Glennon Gallop, alongside my teammates, who will engage in a friendly competition for all the sick and injured children who will benefit from the day’s events.”

Guests are invited to wear white and khaki as they participate in the events of the day, including a silent and oral wine auction led by Tony Bommarito Sr. of A. Bommarito Wines. The auction will include exotic wine excursions in Napa Valley, Oregon and more, along with exciting raffles and live music.
