Kevin Costner & Modern West will join Emmy-award-winning comedian Dana Carvey at the 24th Annual Bob Costas Benefit for SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center on April 21 at 8 p.m. at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Kevin Costner & Modern West formed in 2005 from a shared love of music between a tight-knit group of longtime friends; and former Roving Boys band mates; Kevin Costner, John Coinman and Blair Forward. The three of them collaborated more than 20 years ago and as Kevin’s star began to rise, the Roving Boys band continued behind-the-scenes playing, writing and recording anytime they could get together. Coinman and Forward ended up in Tucson, Arizona where they met guitarist and producer Teddy Morgan and drummer Larry Cobb.

The modern genesis of Modern West began when Kevin’s wife encouraged him to reconnect with his love of music and former band mates. One phone call to Join Coinman and they were back to writing music again. The three former Roving Boys decided to build a new band together and brought in Teddy Morgan and Larry Cobb to form Modern West.

Kevin Costner and Modern West draw their influences from a broad tapestry of American music and beyond. The show itself flows from original material penned by the band to cover songs written by some of music’s giants.

Dana Carvey, a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” from 1986 to 1992, is an Emmy-award winning comedian, best known for creating some of the show's most memorable characters, including "Church Lady" and "Garth" of “Wayne & Garth” fame. Carvey has received widespread praise for his uncanny and exaggerated comedic impersonations of such political figures as former President George Bush, presidential nominees Bob Dole and H. Ross Perot, as well as entertainers such as George Burns, Johnny Carson, Jimmy Stewart, and Mickey Rooney. Carvey earned six Emmy nominations for his work with “Saturday Night Live,” including winning an Emmy in 1993 for “Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.”

Broadcaster and 22-time Emmy Award winner Bob Costas has hosted the event in honor of SSM Cardinal Glennon for more than two decades. More than $9 million has been raised for the Bob Costas Cancer Center, a day hospital providing life-saving treatment to young patients with cancer and bleeding disorders. The day hospital provides a comfortable setting for children to receive prolonged treatments (such as chemotherapy, transfusions, or other drug treatments) without having to be admitted to the hospital.   By expanding the range of therapy that can be given on an outpatient basis, children are able to spend more time at home or school, and thus keep up their normal daily routines and activities.
