Thank you for supporting Cardinal Glennon kids!
I am sure I’ve not been the only one asked, “Do you want a boy or a girl?” when my wife and I announced we were pregnant. Of course, like most, we only wanted a heathy baby. We’ve been blessed. I do realize that’s not the case with everyone. I wonder all the time how these precious babies that have challenges and need SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, deal with the mental aspect of their challenges. They can’t possibly understand everything that’s going on. I’m so glad SSM Health Cardinal Glennon has a mental health component. It’s never really talked about. But I’m grateful it’s there. With age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes empathy. I think about children that have needs that SSM Health Cardinal Glennon takes on a lot. As I’ve gotten older, I get more emotional about things like this. The burden that children take on and the load parents also take on. Cardinal Glennon is a true miracle and the people that provide care are angels among us. Take this journey with me and click HERE to give. - Tony Scott, 96.3 for The Lou

1 pound, 10 ounces. That is all Hailey weighed at birth.
After a complicated pregnancy, Jennifer’s little miracle came prematurely at 26 weeks. Hailey immediately was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for her best chance of survival.
In her first few months of life, Hailey developed klebsiella pneumonia, along with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a form of chronic lung disease. Hailey’s tiny body was fighting hard, yet she continued to decline.
“Her doctors told me she needed an emergency tracheotomy. It would be a risky surgery, but I couldn’t give up on her. I had to put my faith and trust in her Cardinal Glennon team,” says Hailey’s mom, Jennifer. Thankfully, our skilled physicians performed her surgery and gave Hailey another chance at life. After 277 long days, she left SSM Health Cardinal Glennon and started the next chapter of her healing.
Hailey is now a happy one-year-old child with a big personality. While she has a long road of recovery ahead, Hailey continues to show her strength and bring joy to her family and care team. “Every minute I get to spend with my daughter is because of Cardinal Glennon and the amazing people in the community who help this special place,” says Jennifer.
