Give hope to a child this Christmas

Thank you for supporting Cardinal Glennon kids!

After visiting Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital I’ve been so impressed with how much care they put into each patient. This is the first freestanding, non-profit Catholic hospital in the country. They provide hope to thousands of kids with complex conditions in Missouri, Illinois and beyond and they do it with such grace and love. Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is staffed by SLUCare physicians affiliated with Saint Louis University School of Medicine. The Tree of Hope is such an important yearly campaign to support because of the Child Life Department. They are solely supported by donors. They don’t take money from insurance or bill patients. This is a service they offer for free to patients. Imagine your child needing their first MRI and being so scared, the Child Life Department uses a therapy dog or other methods just to make them more comfortable with what is going on. They’ll help them use an iPad while getting a scary procedure done. They stop at nothing to make these children feel at ease even though their worlds are turned upside down. Please support these loving and needed programs by donating HERE- Julie Tristan, KEZK

102.5 KEZK is proud to partner once again with generous community supporters like you to raise funds for SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital’s Tree of Hope year-end campaign.

Through philanthropic donations from supporters like you, we are helping SSM Health Cardinal Glennon continue to fund programs that are not always covered by insurance, but so necessary to a child’s recovery.

Because of you and your support, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon invests in program enhancements, facility updates, charity care and much more. Through your incredible generosity, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon funds general and program-specific improvements, purchases state-of-the-art equipment and even assists with launching new programs. Most importantly, all children in our community receive the very best care, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

Tree of Hope patient Hailey

1 pound, 10 ounces. That is all Hailey weighed at birth.

After a complicated pregnancy, Jennifer’s little miracle came prematurely at 26 weeks. Hailey immediately was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for her best chance of survival.

In her first few months of life, Hailey developed klebsiella pneumonia, along with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a form of chronic lung disease. Hailey’s tiny body was fighting hard, yet she continued to decline.

“Her doctors told me she needed an emergency tracheotomy. It would be a risky surgery, but I couldn’t give up on her. I had to put my faith and trust in her Cardinal Glennon team,” says Hailey’s mom, Jennifer. Thankfully, our skilled physicians performed her surgery and gave Hailey another chance at life. After 277 long days, she left SSM Health Cardinal Glennon and started the next chapter of her healing.

Hailey is now a happy one-year-old child with a big personality. While she has a long road of recovery ahead, Hailey continues to show her strength and bring joy to her family and care team. “Every minute I get to spend with my daughter is because of Cardinal Glennon and the amazing people in the community who help this special place,” says Jennifer.
