Anyone who lives in St. Louis knows that the Cardinals home opener is celebrated each year by thousands of fans filling up downtown and Busch Stadium in a sea of red! However, not everyone can get tickets to this must see game in St. Louis, we created a tradition to celebrate the hours leading up to game time – the Homers for Health Game Ball Relay, this year GBR18!
Thank you for joining us on our 6th annual Game Ball Relay to help us celebrate the Cardinals home opener. The fun began in the Atrium at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for our kickoff ceremony. Our grateful patient relay teams carried the official home opener ball on a journey through the streets of St. Louis to Ballpark Village.
From there, patient D.J. Adams made the final leg into Busch Stadium and took final lap around the warning track with former St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Andy Van Slyke! Enjoy the event photos below.
