Kohl’s donates $183,808 to support Kohl’s for Kids safety program at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital
ST. LOUIS, MO (July 19, 2016) – Kohl’s has donated SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital a grant of $183,808 to support the Kohl’s 4 Kids program, which helps to reduce childhood injury by providing car seat and bike helmet safety education. Kohl’s 4 Kids enables local families to have their own car seats fitted by certified car-seat technicians, and families in need can qualify to receive free car seats. Families also can have their children’s bike helmets fitted, and families in need of them can receive free bike helmets.
Kohl’s 4 Kids also provides bike-safety education through an interactive display called Safety Town, offered at local events. The display involves a street grid with typical town buildings, road signs and even a railroad crossing. Children peddle through the streets on bikes, while program staff and volunteers coach them on observing “rules of the road” for bikers. Program staff also visit local organizations to provide safety talks.
“Kohl’s is a valued and longstanding partner with Cardinal Glennon, as we work together to raise awareness about child passenger and bicycle safety,” said Sandy Koller, executive director of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation. “Thanks to their continued and generous support, we have been able to keep kids safe on the roads and streets, and save lives across our region.”
Since 2006, Kohl’s has donated $1,415,344 to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon. Kohl’s commitment to the hospital is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and soft toys, where 100% of the net profit benefits children’s health initiatives nationwide.
