Kohl’s Department Stores provides grant to SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center
ST. LOUIS, MO., (Oct. 16, 2013) — Kohl’s Department Stores has granted SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center $107,732 to support the Kohl’s 4 Kids program, helping reduce childhood injury. With this program, local families in need will have opportunities to receive 420 car seats and 336 bike helmets, free of charge through June 2014. The check was presented by Kohl’s on Oct. 12 at the Sathya Sai Health Fair in St. Ann, Mo.
In addition to car seats, SSM Cardinal Glennon distributes and fits bike helmets at area events, where they use an interactive display to teach bike safety. The display, or Kohl’s Safety Town, is a street grid lined with typical town buildings. Children navigate peddle carts through the streets while being coached to observe street signs and safety rules.
Kohl’s Cares® has partnered with SSM Cardinal Glennon since 2005, with gifts totaling $852,429. “Kohl’s has been an outstanding partner to Cardinal Glennon in their efforts to raise awareness on child passenger and bicycle safety,” said Dan Buck, executive director of Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation. “Through their generous and substantial financial gifts to our hospital, we have made a great impact in keeping kids safe and reducing childhood risk and injury.”
