Scoops of Fun

Scoops of Fun offers a unique opportunity to support the world-class exceptional health care provided at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital while also providing a special treat to our hospital patients, families and front line staff and caregivers!

While Scoops of Fun traditionally offers an all-you-can-eat ice cream social at The Magic House Children’s Museum, due to the ongoing pandemic, group gathering restrictions and social distancing guidelines, we have changed the format this year with everyone’s health and safety top of mind. For 2021, the Development Board is bringing Scoops of Fun to the hospital once a month from April–September with sweet treats from local vendors distributed within the hospital. Your support provides some normalcy to our families, patients and staff while also benefiting the FootprintsSM program at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon.

We look forward to inviting you back to Scoops of Fun at the Magic House in 2022! Plan now to join us for an event where families can enjoy unlimited treats from local ice cream vendors while exploring The Magic House, one of St. Louis’ most beloved children’s museums.

About Footprints

At SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, children from Missouri, Illinois and around the world receive exceptional care from dedicated caregivers, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. Through our more than 60 pediatric subspecialties and the skills of our world-class doctors and nurses, we help many children who face uncertain futures because of a serious or complex diagnosis.

This is where the Footprints team comes in. Footprints is dedicated to comfort, advocacy and support of children with complex medical issues and their families. The care coordination provided by Footprints addresses not only the child’s physical needs, but the emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs of the entire family.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the program continues to grow, now serving 290 families each year with a total of 3,632 patient encounters in 2020. Your support of Scoops of Fun is helping us make a difference in the lives of children and their families in the following ways:

  • Additional staff to enable our program to continue growing to serve more children, dedicate more time to each family and to offer complementary services like counseling or respite care.
  • Assistance with basic needs, such as transportation, gas cards, groceries, utility assistance and other essential services.
  • Staff education, so that our talented caregivers may continue learning in order to provide the highest quality care.
