Frequently Asked Questions about Donating Toys
We apologize, but due to our privacy and infection control policies, donations are processed through Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation. The Child Life Department will distribute the donations to the patients.
Due to infection control and patient safety, we can only accept NEW stuffed toys. We cannot accept stuffed animals that have been played with or have been a collector’s item on display or on a shelf at home.
We can accept NEW books. They will be distributed by our teachers in the Shining Star school.
We are unable to accept food or candy donations due to the restricted diets and food allergies of the patients.
With regard to home-crafted items we are unable to accept homemade cards. We ARE able to accept pillowcases and fleece blankets with the stipulation they MUST be made of brand new fabric, freshly laundered in non-allergenic detergent and individually wrapped prior to being delivered to the hospital. We are unable to accept crocheted or knit items as well. Any item with any type of odor such as smoke or pet will not be accepted.
Children’s clothes are acceptable with the stipulation they MUST be brand new and odor free with the tags intact.
We will gladly accept donations of all sizes. We combine all of our donations so all of the patients receive the same quantity.
Not at this time. We currently have volunteers who have passed the mandatory hospital background checks and training who graciously help us with our holiday needs.

Yes! We can accept donations of gift cards in denominations of $15 or less to help families and patients at the hospital. These gift cards may be for gas stations, grocery stores or departments stores such as Walmart. However, we are unable to accept general-use gift cards issued by Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
