About the Dan Dierdorf Emergency & Trauma Center:
The Dan Dierdorf Emergency and Trauma Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital was the first Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in the region. The Center employs dedicated and highly-skilled staff who can handle any type of emergency, any time of day, seven days a week.
The skilled emergency medicine physicians at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon treat a multitude of conditions, from sports injuries and asthma attacks to severe traumas and seizures. In addition, our Level I designation enables us to utilize every resource available when caring for our young patients, including trauma surgeons, pediatric specialists, a dedicated trauma operating room and imaging facilities equipped with the latest technology.
Funding Priorities
Future goals and needs of the department include:
- Staff education on topics such as the proper care of children with autism in the emergency room setting
- Ongoing technology updates
- Continued injury and violence prevention efforts, including education and advocacy on a variety of issues
