The Dan Dierdorf Emergency and Trauma Center

When a child is sick or injured, families want the very best care available. The Dan Dierdorf Emergency and Trauma Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, meaning our dedicated staff can handle any type of emergency, any time of day, seven days a week.

The skilled emergency medicine physicians at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon treat a multitude of conditions, from sports injuries and asthma attacks to severe traumas and seizures. In addition, our Level I designation enables us to utilize every resource available when caring for our young patients, including trauma surgeons, pediatric specialists, a dedicated trauma operating room and imaging facilities equipped with the latest technology.

As a teaching hospital, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon is a training site for Saint Louis University School of Medicine medical students and pediatric residents. Many of our teaching physicians have an average of 20 years’ experience in pediatric emergency care. In addition, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon emergency physicians are available at six hospital locations throughout the bi-state area, including north and south St. Louis County, St. Charles County and the Metro East.
