Knights of Columbus Developmental Center

Since 1981, the dedicated professionals at the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center have been providing world-class care for children with special needs. What started as a small staff of three has grown into a multi-disciplinary team of pediatricians, psychologists, nurses, speech therapists, occupational therapists, a social worker, a family resource and education specialist and a research team.

For children with developmental disabilities, finding the appropriate educational and medical resources can significantly impact their future. Thanks to the multi-disciplinary approach to care that the Knights Center provides, many children can receive all of their services in a central location that is convenient and accessible. Our caring team has extensive experience evaluating and treating children with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, intellectual disabilities, developmental, language and social delays and even genetic syndromes that impact development.

In 2007, the Missouri Department of Mental Health designated the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center as a Missouri Center for Autism, making them one of only six sites in the entire state to hold this honor. By participating in this collaboration, the Knights Center has contributed to the statewide development of best practices for screening and treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Each year, more than 2,500 children and their families benefit from the expertise of the Knights Center team. As a result of the generous support of the Missouri and Illinois Knights of Columbus and our many friends, we can continue to invest in the future of these children, enabling them to reach their fullest potential.

How Your Support Will Help

By supporting the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center, you are making a difference in the lives of these special children in the following ways:

Operational Support. Donor support helps the Center recruit the most qualified staff, covers the costs of their clinical space and more.

Program Enhancements. The Knights Center staff is continually looking for innovative techniques and methods with which to treat children with a variety of developmental disabilities. Your support enables the Center to develop and enhance new programs, as well as offer scholarships for these programs for families who cannot afford them.

Staff Education. An important part of a multi-disciplinary program such as the Knights Center is a highly-trained staff. Donor support allows nurses, speech and occupational therapists and other professionals to attend specialized trainings and conferences in order to stay informed about changes in the field of developmental pediatrics.
